letter from the author official cover-up girl song

Thirteen-year-old Krissi Swan has endured the verbal attacks and criticisms of her bossy classmate, Jenny, since the fourth grade. Jenny, the self-appointed leader of the school’s fashion police, thinks Krissi’s clothes are old-fashioned, and Krissi thinks Jenny’s clothes are too trendy and a tad too tight.

Nevertheless, Krissi never gives up wanting to be Jenny’s friend and cannot understand why Jenny is so cruel and bullying. To complicate matters, a boy who is Krissi’s friend becomes the object of Jenny’s desire, causing Jenny to increase her attacks on Krissi and her best friend, JoAnn.

But little does Krissi know, Jenny holds a secret, one that could expose the root of her jealousy and anger toward Krissi - and forever alter their relationship.

Welcome Dear Reader! Did you enjoy reading Krissi Swan: Cover-Up Girl? I sure hope so! I had a lot of fun writing her story and seeing her character evolve. And as I wrote to you at the end of the story, you can listen to the song Krissi and Dee wrote for the final style show at Krissi’s church by clicking here.

I’m so proud of my daughter, Kasia Livingston, who lives in California and writes songs for a living. When she heard about the book I was writing, she wrote this song and sent it to me. I was so excited, because she captured the total essence of what Krissi is all about!

By the way, what did you think about the style show? If you heard of a show like that somewhere, would you want to be a part of it? When I started writing this book, I heard about a really cool organization that is putting on style shows and teaching young women, ages 14 - 18, about the importance of dressing appropriately. It’s called Pure Fashion, and you can go to their website if you want to learn more about them: www.purefashion.com.

If you have any questions or comments for me about Krissi or about yourself, please email me at kszitkus@coverupgirl.com. I look forward to hearing from you! Until then, I hope you will take the message of this book to heart, and when you go shopping, look for choices that are not only stylish, but also show the world that you are indeed a young lady!
